Words on words on words.

Hi, I’m Britt!

It’s first impression time sooo… what should I tell you about me that’s interesting enough to keep you around but not too weird to scare you off? Let’s start with some basics – I love to create, drink coffee, put a pen to paper, take pictures, play sports, go to concerts, & lose myself in song lyrics. Syncopate & cadence are two of my favorite words. My dog’s name is Benjamin Oliver Winston. I listen to all kinds of music & love live shows & festivals so SO much! Also, I am #TeamIcedCoffee4Ever. I once broke my nose in a high school basketball game & I’ve had my appendix removed (worst. pain. ever). I’ve experienced heart break & heart mends & I don’t mind sharing them because I’ve learned there’s some real connections to be made through those experiences. I pay for a Netflix subscription but use it mostly to re-watch “New Girl” episodes before bed. I love traveling & don’t mind plane rides, but I prefer long drives & finding the best coffee shops in whatever town I’m in. I also love to take on passion projects, which include writing pieces about music artists, dabbling in songwriting, composing poems, & discovering new music & bands.

So, Britt, what’s the purpose of this site?

I guess you can say it’s my bit of a portfolio.

I am a writer & an editor. I’m highly interested in helping others bring meaning & life to whatever it is they are trying to convey whether it is a speech, an email, a campaign, product descriptions, a love letter, an “About Me” section, or anything else that requires some effective, well-strung-together words. If someone already has something written & is seeking someone to proofread it or make edits, I want to be that someone! I truly love the writing process & making sure written work not only sounds good, but also that it leaves readers feeling something afterward.

I was asked to write a poem for a local American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life a few years ago & at the closing ceremonies, I delivered the poem to an audience of about 70 people. It was during those moments that I physically experienced how moved people were by the words I wrote & well… I want to continue doing just that.

I have helped others with various kinds of writing projects such as an engaging speech for a Maid of Honor at her best friend’s wedding and I’ve composed a biography for a multi-talented artist that she published on her website. I helped my dad with creating content for his campaign as a city council candidate and in my circle of friends and family, I tend to be the go-to when written work is needed or edited. Thumbtack Profile – Words By Britt

I legitimately have a craze about words – the way they sound, look, and most importantly, how they can make you feel. I love the way words can resonate with someone and how they can be powerful enough to make a person read them over & over again. Writing is my art and although actions can speak louder than words, sometimes words are enough

…how incredible it is to be able to put colorful visions in someone’s mind through words written in black and white.
